Open the Hood. Make sure the vehicle is turned off. Locate the hood release lever inside the vehicle and pull it. Go to the front of the vehicle and reach under the center part of the hood with one hand to discharge the latch and lift up the hood. Look for the support rod along the front or side ledge of the engine area and prop up the hood. Open the windshield washer fluid and set it on the ground along with the funnel in front of the vehicle.

Add Windshield Wiper Fluid. Locate the fill line just below the top edge of the reservoir opening. If you are using a funnel, place it in the opening. Pour the fluid into the reservoir until it reaches the fill line. If you are not using a funnel, carefully pour the liquid directly in the opening until it reaches the fill line.
  5. 5
Replace the Cap. Remove the funnel. Place the cap on the opening and press until it snaps.
  6. 6
Close the hood. Support the hood with one hand while you take the hood support rod and secure it back in place. Lower the hood half way down and release it, pulling your hands away quickly to avoid injury.
  7. 7
Cleanup. Place the top back on the bottle of windshield wiper fluid and rinse out the funnel with water.

Tips

  • Using a good quality windshield washer fluid increases the cleaning capability and prevents freezing in cold weather.
  • When you refill the reservoir, clean the edges of the windshield wiper blades with windshield washer fluid on a clean cloth. This will help to condition them.

Warnings

  • Always turn off your vehicle before checking fluids. Moving parts in the engine compartment can cut or sever your hands and arms.
  • Do not use engine antifreeze or a vinegar/water solution in the windshield washer reservoir.
