Steps
- 1Get the filters from an auto parts store. This particular model takes TWO filters, so remind the auto parts guy you need two.
- 2Open hood and find the two plastic covers, one on each side just in front of the windshield.
- 3Open the clip on the inner side of each cover. It will pop out from the front. Slide it off of the hinges in back to pull the cover out and flip it over.
- 4Remove the old filter, then blow out all the debris in the housing so it doesn't end up going through the interior vent.
- 5Place the new filters in the housing and replace the covers.
- 6Reset the Service Reminder (see How to Reset the Service Reminder for 2006 BMW 525xi).
Tips
- The filters cost about $30 each at an auto parts store for a total of $60. If you have the dealer do it, EACH filter will be around $65, plus labor. Not to mention the hassle of taking it somewhere for a job you can do in half an hour in your garage.
Things You'll Need
- The Carquest part number for the filter is 90129C.
