Installing an amp in a car sometimes can be complicated if you do not know what your doing. This is a "how to" guide for the people who need a bit of help.
Steps
- 1Decide where you want the amp to be. Usually when your running an amp in a car, you would want the amp to be in the trunk. Probably because its the best place in the car with lots of space.
- 2Place the amp in the trunk and hook the wires up, it's fairly straight forward.
- 3Select the gauge of the wire. People use 8 gauge wire most of the time.
- 4Measure how long of wire you would need from the trunk to the battery in the engine bay.
- 5Plug the wire into the back of the amplifier in the trunk and feed the wire through side panels on doors on the bottom until the wire reaches the driver side firewall.
- There is a hole on the firewall that you lead the wire through to the battery. In all Volkswagen cars the battery is located on the driver side of the engine bay.
- For example, in a Honda civic the battery is located on the passenger side.
- 6Open your hood and you will see the wire, give it a pull until it reaches the battery.
- 7Split the wire and attach one side of the wire to the body of the car (ground wire) and the other side to the battery.
Tips
- Unplug the battery before doing work.
Warnings
- Be cautious around the battery
